Evaluation Question 1:

IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS & CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?

"Distrutto" Distribution & Exhibition:

We are planning on advertising our product across traditional media platforms such as Television, along with other developing media like online websites. We have these particular websites in mind:

Facebook - which is a popular social-networking site:

YouTube - which is a popular video-hosting/browsing website:

These are websites we intend to host the teaser trailer on for both our targetted audiences and potential audiences. Plus, there are comment and rating features which allow viewers to give feedback and criticism. They can type in their comments in a review style where they may explain what they particuarly liked and disliked. This may give the group an idea of whether the teaser trailer fulfilled its purpose by thrilling viewers.

Another interesting reason for hosting the teaser trailer online is if our group's opinions towards the final product change because of the audience's reception. If the final product to us does not turn out as well as we expected, we would put up a negative view towards it but if YouTube viewers claim they love it and if it fulfills the purpose, our views would immidiately match our audience. So both the audience and our group feel happy with the final product, confirming its success.

It is our intention to create a Facebook page and YouTube Channel to give our audiences more opportunity to tune in. Viewers can subscribe to these pages and recieve notifications so they will be kept up to date with the latest information of our production company and any extras.

We also exhibited our teaser trailer to audiences of year 11, 12 & 13s.

"Distrutto" Post-Production Stage:

After we got enough shots from the filming, C.S.S. Productions began to edit the footage on two movie editing software programmes, one of which was at school and one of which was inside Chris's household.

iMovie:

Sony Vegas Pro 10.0:

We used iMovie on the Macs to add some effects that were exclusive to that editing programme but Sony Vegas Pro 10.0 was the main editing programme we used for the majority of the effects, trimming and sound editing.

At one point the group came to a point where we considered font styles for "Distrutto"'s exclusive look. These fonts will be in the teaser trailer along with poster and magazine.

"Distrutto" Production Stage:

When C.S.S. Productions went onto production, we encountered numerous problems. Because many of the actors were at college before the times of filming it was increasingly difficult to manage shooting on the initial locations based on the storyboard.

Scott took some new location shots of places that were more suitable for the filming.

"Distrutto" Pre-production Stage:

Now that we did the synopsis, storyboard and script, C.S.S. Productions went on to  pre-production. In this stage, we casted actors, took location shots, created filming timetables and constructed a list of props we could dispense into the production of our film.

We wanted actors who had previous experience of acting so that our teaser trailer would not be filled with people who have not managed to fit themselves into their characters.

Cast/List of Actors:

Philip Newsham as Eric Clifford

Phil worked with us in AS media for when we produced "Repressed". His exceptionally good acting skills are vital for our teaser trailer. His character challenges the convention of a hero being typically over-masculine and brawn. Eric is represented as an 'average Joe' who is friendly and outgoing. He has an emotional side which hugely supports him through his thrilling quest but can make him too confrontational towards the villains, putting himself in danger.

Emily Sharpe as Linda Revior

Emily's good acting skills are evident from her AS production "Slaughter School". Her character is a femme fatel; a woman who uses her looks to her advantage by controlling men to get away with devious acts. Her reason for breaking up with Eric is unknown to the audience and her kidnapping was actually her plan to lure Eric in. She challenges the convention of a female character, who is quite often a helper, by being a false hero.

Cameron Colluney as Blocker 1 (Name Unknown)

Cameron appears when he is making a deal with the Hero to try and save his ex for a ransom of a lot of money. When he is 17 in real life, his facial appearence looks as if he is 25 years old. His character is cynical mastermind who is menacing and does not mess around. His part in the villain's underground organisation, "The Reunion", is strong.

Liam Chaimberlain as Blocker 2 (Name Unknown)

Liam's character is the muscle of the underground organisation, who intimidates people by showing off his strength. He is a typical bodyguard used for both defence and offense. He has a gentle side however as his personality is easy-going and relaxed.

Sebsatian Jafari as Blocker 3 (Name Unknown)

Sebastian's character is the practical and productive member of the group who often organises the missions. His balaclava hides parts of his identity making him mysterious and unknown to the audience. Eric engages in combat with him in order to get answers on where they are keeping Linda and what they intend to do with her.

John Samuroff as "M" (M for Master - hides identity)

John's character is the CEO of the organisation, who has a bitter hatred towards the helper, who used to be one of his closest peers. This backstory between the two is elaborated in the actual film but their relation in the teaser trailer are not shown. "M" is an unemotional villian who is unsensitive and never shows mercy.

Samir Manun as Ringo Lebski

Samir's character is the helper who sets Eric off on his thrilling quest. He is close to Eric like a relative and assists him in his times of need. The underground organisation are actually targetting him due to business in the past but Eric is unaware and is being lured in only so that Ringo gets lured in with him.

The cast features mainly white male actors but there is a female actor, Emily, as well as an actor who is an international student, Samir, showing we have considered casting people with other demographic attributes.

The filming will take place at random times during the day. Last year we filmed when it was getting dark for a horror which was difficult because we could just barely see what was on-screen. This year it should be easier to film during the day.

"Distrutto" Development Stage:

When beginning the development of our teaser trailer, C.S.S. productions wasted no time in constructing a narrative to use as a rough guideline.

Chris was responsible for writing the story and events that would take place. Scott was responsible for handling our research that we would refer back to often. I took the liberty of writing the script and illustrating the storyboard.

Synopsis:

The plot is short but complex. It features a couple who break up (to prevent our audience from identifying out teaser trailer as a romance). Afterwards, the pace picks up as the ex's boyfriend (hero) saves his ex from a deal that is made with a group of antagonists. The dispatcher then guides the hero on his thrilling quest.

I illustrated the storyboarding using my ideas of camera shots and visual aspects including the clothes that the characters wear, the lighting, setting etc.

I intended to raise suspense and create rythm with the storyboard by including flash cuts and fades with non-diegetic ambient sounds and beats. Camera angles and distances attempt to thrill the audience in as many ways as I could think of. I feel this storyboard will fulfil the genre's purpose of thrilling the audience.

Script 2:

We decided to keep the amount of dialogue at the minimum so that it will not clash with the upbeat soundtrack that leads towards the peak of our teaser trailer.
